Guilford Zero Energy Passive House: Designing and Living the Dream
April 29 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Building their first passive house for clients in 2014 permanently altered how Bill Freeman and Alicia Dolce of Celebration Green Design & Build viewed the construction process relative to achieving a much higher level of energy efficiency. Their experience was an eye-opener on passive house as a pathway to achieving zero energy, while also delivering quality of life benefits including healthier indoor air quality and superior comfort.
When it became time to downsize their own living space, Bill and Alicia knew they wanted to pursue building a Zero Energy Passive House that would achieve additional sustainability goals for their home and its site. To accomplish this, they drew on their broad knowledge of sustainability practices and seized the opportunity to try out a few new things along the way.
Recipient of a Merit Award for Single Family Residence in the 2020 CT Green Building Awards program, the Guilford Zero Energy Passive House was recently recognized by Green Builder magazine as one of its 2021 Green Home of the Year Awards.
