SUMMARY:The Tyler: An Adaptive Reuse & Passive House Collaboration Between Developer and CPHD
DESCRIPTION:Christina McPike and Kate Doherty talk about an adaptive reuse project—The Tyler—as an example of the collaborative process between a developer and Passive House Designer. They will discuss what it took to give this school a new life as 55+ housing while also getting it to Passive House level efficiency. The speakers will go through some of the intricacies of the EnerPHit program compared to new construction Passive House and some challenges they faced on this project with words of wisdom to other developers taking the leap into Passive House. \nSpeakers: \nChristina McPike is the Director of Energy & Sustainability at WinnCompanies\, a 50-year-old multifamily housing owner\, developer\, and manager. Since joining Winn’s Energy & Sustainability team in 2013\, Christina has implemented over $30 million worth of energy efficiency upgrades across Winn’s portfolio. Under Christina’s leadership\, WinnDevelopment successfully integrates high performance design in every project\, from occupied moderate renovations to ground up new construction and deep energy retrofits. \nKate Doherty CPHD\, is a Building Systems Consultant at Steven Winter Associates. Her background in environmental science and degree in Sustainability takes her passion to improve the built environment\, as well as the natural environment\, to another level. At Steven Winter Associates she supports the Passive House team in conducting feasibility studies for project teams\, distributing submittals internally\, and completing energy and thermal bridge modeling. \nDid you attend CTPH site tour of The Tyler under construction in February 2020? Hear about and see the finished product. \nRegister Here \nAIA CEU pending \nFree thanks to the Energize Connecticut Passive House & All-Electric Initiative program. The Sponsors of Energize Connecticut\, in partnership with Connecticut Passive House\, are pleased to offer these webinars at no cost.  Reserve your virtual seat for this exciting and informative virtual webinar.
